Airlie Gardens is the only venue on the list that requires strategy. The Summer Concert Series runs first and third Fridays from July through September, 6 to 8 p.m., on the Oak Lawn under a live oak that has been there for roughly five centuries. Open-lawn seating means chairs, blankets, small picnic tables, coolers, food, and alcoholic beverages are all welcome. Balloons, sporting equipment, smoking, and pets are not.

The catch is parking. On-site parking at Airlie is by permit only during concert nights. Everyone else parks at 230 Government Center Drive and takes the free shuttle, which starts running at 5 p.m. and loops continuously through the evening.

If you are being dropped off, note that only marked rideshare or taxi vehicles are permitted at the gate. Personal-vehicle drop-off at Airlie is not allowed on concert nights. Show ID if your Uber is unmarked.

Airlie members get in free on their membership card, with tickets required for additional guests. The programming ranges wide, from bluegrass and swing to reggae-rock and 80s cover bands, so the crowd shifts with the act. Oceanfront Or Soundside, Depending On What You Want The Night To Feel Like

Bluewater Waterfront Grill, tucked at the base of the drawbridge, sits on the Intracoastal Waterway side. Sunday afternoons there run 4 to 8 p.m. dockside, watching yachts and boats slide through the channel toward the marina. The energy is different. The ocean is elemental; the waterway is social. Boats pull up. People wave. You end up talking to someone tied to the piling three slips down.

What's Actually New This Summer

If you have lived here a few years, the concert schedule is mostly familiar. The genuine changes are quieter and easier to miss.

Tap Tea Bar opened in the former Shed location and is now pouring boba drinks and sweet treats. If you have been driving by wondering when someone would take that space, someone did.

Soundside Adventures added two experiences this season aboard its vessel the Carolina Runner. Bella Brunch Sails run a morning of mimosas, pastries, and coastal views. Palm Tree Island Puppy Cruises are ninety-minute pet-friendly runs with pup cups included. Both are booked as separate excursions, not folded into the standard sightseeing schedule.

Amazon Prime returned to film season three of The Summer I Turned Pretty on the island, which residents already know because of the trailers on Lumina Avenue. Whether you care about the show or not, the film crew's presence is why the Oceanic and a handful of other landmark shots keep showing up on your social feed.
